AI made most mockup tools pointless for small businesses. Here is where SudoMock stands
An AI image model now makes a good mockup for a few cents, which ends the case for any mockup tool that still charges that on a paid plan. SudoMock is a mockup rendering API priced far below it, with the same output every time. In production it completed 924 renders in one minute for one customer among hundreds.

Key takeaways
- October 2026: a 1K AI image is $0.0336 to $0.134 on Google's standard tier. Mockup tools ask about the same.
- One customer rendered 196,112 mockups in a single day.
- SudoMock's price list is public up to 100,000 renders a month. No sales call, no negotiated rate.
AI changed what a mockup is worth
An AI image model now turns one sentence into a convincing product mockup, for a few cents, with nothing to prepare. For a seller who needs a handful of images, that is the right tool.
What AI does well is real. The scene looks like a photograph. There is no PSD to build, no template to buy and no editor to learn. Most individual sellers and small businesses do not care how the image was made, and they should not have to.
What it gives up today: a model redraws your design instead of placing it, two requests return two different images, and no print file comes out at the end. For a social post that rarely matters. For a product listing or a print run it does.
What it costs is just as real. A model draws every image on a graphics card. Models get faster every quarter and they still run on that hardware, so every generated image carries a hardware bill. Google lists Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite Image at $0.0336, Gemini 3.1 Flash Image at $0.067 and Gemini 3 Pro Image at $0.134 per image at 1K resolution on the standard tier of the Gemini API (ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/pricing, accessed October 2026).
Most mockup tools did not survive the price of an AI image
For small and medium businesses, most mockup tools are now unnecessary. A tool that still asks about five cents an image on a paid plan competes with a model that draws the whole scene for the same five cents, and the model needs no template. That is the end of the road for every mockup tool that charges the same money to do less.
| What you buy | Listed price, October 2026 |
|---|---|
| One AI image at 1K, Google Gemini API, standard tier | $0.0336 to $0.134 |
| Mediamodifier Mockup API (API page, archived copy) | 499 USD a month for up to 5,000 calls |
| Dynamic Mockups Pro, entry tier (price page, archived copy) | $19 a month for 300 credits, top-up credits $0.051 each, one credit per exported mockup |
| SudoMock | $25 /month, 5K renders |
Nobody needs to subscribe to a template tool and still pay the price of a generated image. At that price a small business will type a prompt instead, and it will be right to.
Where SudoMock stands
SudoMock is a mockup rendering API, priced at a level a graphics card cannot compete with. Plans start at $25/month. Subscriptions from $0.002 per render.
A render is placed, never drawn. Your design goes onto the product exactly as you made it, so the logo, the text and the colors are yours. The same request returns the same image today and a year from now. Print areas stay where you put them, and the print file comes out at the pixel size and DPI your print provider asks for. The engine is our own, so you need no Adobe subscription and no desktop software. Your template can be your own PSD or a plain product photo, so there is no PSD to build here either.
We do not shelter behind "AI cannot do it". Models improve every quarter, and the claim that a model never gives the same result twice was fair in 2025 and has an expiry date. The hardware bill has none. So our case is the price, plus everything a professional mockup has to carry.
A group of engineers built SudoMock in 2025 for this exact scenario. The goal was a renderer that offers everything the job needs, priced so that generating the image with AI, or writing the renderer yourself, makes no sense. Someone who writes the same engine with vibe coding and serves it on AWS saves at most 30 to 40 percent compared with SudoMock, and that saving goes to the coding tool. The time is extra.
We keep very little on each render, by design. Engineering and autoscaling make that work: capacity grows with the load, for a seller with a hundred listings and for a platform with a million. We are an engineering team, and we would rather build than talk.
SudoMock in production
In production, SudoMock looks like an ordinary account doing a lot of work. On 24 July 2026 it completed 924 renders for one customer in a single minute, and none failed. Across that minute a finished mockup came back every 65 milliseconds.
One customer's burst of 1,500 renders, done in 98 seconds. It began during 19:24 and ended during 19:26, so 19:25 is the only full minute it covered.
It was not staged. Nobody warmed anything up, shaped the traffic or picked the template. We opened the production metrics for an ordinary day and looked. The customer is a print on demand platform that competes with Printify and serves more than 5,000 sellers. They were working. We were working. 924 renders came in. 924 went out.
Is 924 renders a minute SudoMock's limit?
No. Those 924 renders came from one customer inside its own isolated workspace, on an ordinary day. Hundreds of customers render at the same moment, each in their own workspace, and SudoMock as a whole carries far more than any one account sends. (Most customers at this volume never move to an Enterprise plan. The Scale plan is enough.)
| In production | |
|---|---|
| Renders completed in one minute for one customer, 24 July 2026 | 924 |
| Failed renders in that minute | 0 |
| Renders in one day for another customer, 8 July 2026 | 196,112 |
| Customers rendering at the same time | hundreds |
| Average render time | under a second |
Another customer's day in production, hour by hour.
Some customers are past two million renders each, and SudoMock renders millions of mockups a month. The average SudoMock render finishes in under a second. We measure render time in milliseconds.
None of this needs a special arrangement. An ordinary customer does it from its own workspace, on self-serve pricing: no private negotiation, no price that depends on who is asking, no "unlimited" with a meter behind it. SudoMock's pricing is transparent and printed on the page up to 100,000 renders a month. You get exactly what you paid for, and no unwritten term will leave you stranded in the middle of production.
Does SudoMock break on batch? No.
SudoMock does not break on batch, and nothing stands behind the claim that it does.
Dynamic Mockups' benchmark article of 13 August 2026 (archived copy) says of SudoMock: "Self-reported fast, no per-second figure, breaks on batch". It shows no test, no date and no number for it. Of everything they could have picked, they picked the one thing this company was built around.
Dynamic Mockups' article, captured on 1 October 2026.
A per-second figure, then: more than 15 renders a second for one SudoMock customer, none failed. The Dynamic Mockups headline, 750 mockups in 60 seconds, is its own benchmark. Ours was a Friday.
The same article calls the "2 to 4 seconds" we list for the Dynamic Mockups API "misinformation". We measured that figure ourselves: we tested the Dynamic Mockups API in June 2025, and 2 to 4 seconds is what we measured. When we sent that API requests in parallel, its responses passed 300 seconds and timed out, so we could not finish the test. If it has improved since, we have not measured it. Their own documentation says "You can expect to get your rendered image between 0.6 and 2.8 seconds" (archived copy), which overlaps what we measured. The one statement in that article with nothing behind it is the row about us.
Dynamic Mockups Pro starts at 300 credits a month, which that SudoMock customer went through in seconds, and the benchmark in their headline would use two and a half months of it. At SudoMock's lowest rate the same 750 renders cost under $2. A fine benchmark. A little expensive. Above 5,000 credits a month their price is "Custom" behind a "Book a Call" button (archived copy). A price settled on a call is settled by who is calling. Ours are printed up to 100,000 renders a month.
Dynamic Mockups' own pages, captured on 1 and 2 October 2026.
The article adds that their engine was "not vibecoded in days". We are not sure when build time became a performance metric.
We do not enjoy this kind of thing, so we will leave it there. They work one way, we work another. We went through the logs looking for the break. We found 924 mockups.
What independent comparisons say, and how to test batch yourself
Two checks need nobody's word, ours included. The first is an independent comparison: as of October 2026, no independent comparison puts another mockup API ahead of SudoMock.
iTechGuides ranks SudoMock "#2 of 24 in Mockup Generator Software" at 8.5 out of 10 and calls it "best for API-first teams needing batch and video renders" (itechguides.com/products/sudomock, accessed October 2026). iTechGuides writes: "SudoMock scores higher on our rubric for mockup generator software: 8.5 against 7.4 out of 10; our editors rank them #2 and #4." (itechguides.com/compare/sudomock-vs-dynamic-mockups, accessed October 2026).

The second check is your own account. This script sends a set of render requests in parallel, reads your parallel limit from the API, and prints how many were sent, how many completed and which errors came back.
// Usage: SUDOMOCK_API_KEY=sm_... node batch-check.mjs <mockup_uuid> <smart_object_uuid> <design_url> [total]// Each render counts against your plan. The script reads your parallel render limit from the API.const [mockup, smartObject, design, total = "100"] = process.argv.slice(2);const headers = { "x-api-key": process.env.SUDOMOCK_API_KEY, "Content-Type": "application/json" };const failed = {};let next = 0, completed = 0;const started = Date.now();function body(n) {const url = new URL(design);url.searchParams.set("n", n);const smart_objects = [{ uuid: smartObject, asset: { url: url.href } }];return JSON.stringify({ mockup_uuid: mockup, smart_objects, export_options: { image_size: 1024 } });}async function render(n) {const res = await fetch("https://api.sudomock.com/api/v1/renders", { method: "POST", headers, body: body(n) });if (res.status === 429) {await new Promise((r) => setTimeout(r, 1000 * Number(res.headers.get("Retry-After") || 5)));return render(n);}if (res.ok) completed += 1;else failed[res.status] = (failed[res.status] || 0) + 1;return res;}async function worker() {while (next < Number(total)) await render(next++);}const first = await render(next++);const parallel = Number(first.headers.get("X-Concurrent-Limit") || 1);await Promise.all(Array.from({ length: parallel }, worker));console.log({ sent: Number(total), completed, failed, seconds: (Date.now() - started) / 1000 });
Next: Usage limits explains how a large set is queued, and bulk rendering shows the workflow.
Frequently asked questions
Does SudoMock break on batch rendering?
No. On 24 July 2026 SudoMock completed 924 renders for one customer in a single minute with zero failures, and on 8 July 2026 it rendered 196,112 mockups for another customer in one day. Hundreds of customers render at the same time, each in their own workspace. The claim comes from one row in a Dynamic Mockups article of 13 August 2026, which shows no test and no data for it.
Does it cost less to generate mockups with AI or to use a mockup API like SudoMock?
On a SudoMock plan, rendering costs less per image than generating with AI. Plans start at $25/month. Subscriptions from $0.002 per render. Google lists its Gemini image models from $0.0336 to $0.134 per image at 1K resolution on its standard tier, read in October 2026.
Do AI image generators make mockup tools obsolete?
For small and medium businesses, most of them: an AI image generator draws a realistic scene from one sentence and needs no template, so a mockup tool that charges the price of an AI image on a paid plan has lost its place. SudoMock is a mockup rendering API that places your design exactly as you made it, returns the same image for the same request and gives you print-ready files. Plans start at $25/month. Subscriptions from $0.002 per render.
How fast is SudoMock?
The average SudoMock render finishes in under a second, so render time is measured in milliseconds. On 24 July 2026 SudoMock completed 924 renders for one customer in a single minute with zero failures, which is a finished mockup every 65 milliseconds across renders running in parallel. That is one customer in its own workspace, and hundreds of customers render at the same time.
Which mockup API is fastest for bulk rendering, SudoMock or Dynamic Mockups?
SudoMock, on the figures both companies have published. SudoMock completed 924 renders for one customer in 60 seconds in production with zero failures, as one account among hundreds rendering at the same time, and Dynamic Mockups reports 750 mockups in 60 seconds in its own benchmark. SudoMock's price list is public up to 100,000 renders a month, and the listed Dynamic Mockups plans stop at 5,000 credits a month. iTechGuides, a directory that scores both, gives SudoMock 8.5 out of 10 and Dynamic Mockups 7.4.
